Lama Thinley has arrived!.
We’re honored to have Lama Thinley here from Nepal for a one-year stay. He’s here as a visiting scholar for the Anthropology Department at Texas A&M and he’ll be teaching Sundays afternoons and Mondays nights as well as at occasional longer events. Lama Thinley is accomplished in Buddhist meditation and ritual and is a scholar in the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. To learn more about Lama Thinley, please see his bio.
The Brazos Buddhist Association is a non-sectarian group practicing in a variety of Buddhist traditions, including Insight, Zen and Tibetan. We meet regularly for group meditations and cooperatively sponsor visiting teachers from all schools of Buddhism.
Our goal is to create a community for meditators who are interested in Buddhism, whether they adhere to the views of one tradition or want to learn from teachers with various backgrounds. A number of us are committed to specific practices and teachers, but we maintain an open, respectful environment where each practitioner can find or stay true to his or her path. As a group, we keep ritual to a minimum and sit in silence to provide a space where we can support each other in meditation.
Our group represents the coming together of two smaller Buddhist organizations: Brazos Insight and Brazos Zen.
